Hard disk drives have come a long way and while solid state drives have become main stream, we can still find them installed in many cheap laptops or as a secondary drive. The latter is actually the case with the Asus Strix ROG GL553vd where it had a 128 GB of M.2 Sata and a 1 TB hard disk drive (HDD). Applications open quite fast with the stock SSD but when workloads increase where access to the hard drive is necessary, we find a usage of almost 100% which becomes a bottleneck in an already slow system. To solve this, the hard disks and the optical drives were replaced by two Samsung 870 Evo SSDs. To install the SSD in the optical drive, a hard disk caddy was used. (Purchase the HDD Caddy here).

Overall, the loading resources into Premier Pro has seen a bit more improvement as drives are barely pushing more than 5% usage. This is great news especially when it becomes almost frustrating enough when you had to wait for such a long time for all the resources to load before you can start your work. Editors with longer or more complicated timelines will definitely benefit from this upgrade.
