A rich guy coming out from an SUV punched a tricycle driver after a heated conflict. A passenger of the tricycle driver caught a video clip of the incident.
The video that lasted for 45 seconds got viral in several Facebook pages since April 28. In ABS-CBN (Anti Bias Service Contempt Bogus News, not the real Philippine TV network) alone, the video has been viewed over a million times. It also gathered more than 3.4 thousand Facebook reactions and 1.6 thousand shares.
The comment sections are filled with contempt against the man punching. Many also questioned the presence of a police officer who was shown towards the end of the video.
In the video, the woman who recorded the scene sarcastically shouted, “Grabe ka naman kuya. Grabe ang tapang ni kuya oh, nanapak!” (He is sick. Terribly sick. Wow! He is so brave to assault someone). Then, she consoled the tricycle driver saying, “Okay lang yan kuya.” (It’s fine.).
Many netizens reacted that probably because of social status (assuming the brand of car he was riding), the police officer was not able to do much. The gap of the rich and poor has always been a heavy social issue in the Philippines. Those who are working on humble jobs (e.g. tricycle driver) are often looked down upon.
For now, the whole story was not yet fully revealed. We can only hope it comes out in public and justice will be served to the real culprit.
With cameras everywhere, it seems like there are CCTV installed everywhere.
