If there is something that the Thai online community is good at, that would be making terk-jerking commercials that touch the hearts of people across countries and cultures.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) of Thailand has launched a campaign video of asking for hair donations to be donated as wigs for cancer patients. The video upload by NTD.tv’s Facebook pages has gathered more than 17 million views, 63 thousand likes and reactions, 355 thousand shares, and 5.6 thousand comments within 21 hours.
The story talks about two orphaned sisters who had a cold relationship with each other. The older one hated her younger sibling for being too rebellious and hard-headed. She hated her that she wanted her to die. However, in the turn of events, she was diagnosed with cancer. On the moment her younger sister found out, there was a change of heart.
For a almost 4-minute video, the campaign definitely has an effective emotional impact to the viewers.
