Apple finally sets its eyes on providing an answer to Microsoft’s Hologens and Google’s Smart Glass. The American firm decides to pursue augmented reality glasses as one of its upcoming ambitious projects.
Current CEO, Tim Cook, observes that people now don’t really care much on virtual reality. Thus, investing to augmented reality is a more preferable option especially these times that the boundaries of the real and virtual world are getting blur.
The pursuit to augmented reality aims to develop wearable technology that is connected via Bluetooth to iPhones. Apple will develop glasses that will send multi-media data to uses. This upcoming device will soon add to Apple’s wearable devices — the Apple Watch and Airpods which can connect to Siri without any wires attached.
Apple currently forms a team of software and hardware from their own firm and those who had work experience on Microsoft’s Hologens and Google’s Glasses. In addition, Apple plans to hire animators and visionaries from the biggest film companies in Hollywood — those people behind famous films like King Kong and Avatar. Apple also plans to buy companies that develop augmented reality headsets.
This plan also includes strategic improvements on the current iOS software for iPhone’s camera and optical lenses.
Will Apple be successful on this big project or will they follow the footsteps of Google Glass which became popular because of mockery. The path they gonna pursue is a risky journey, however, if they gonna do things right, they will set up another revolutionary product that will cemented to popular culture of the millennial generation.
