Duels in this game is not like the usual Pokemon battles in the Gameboy game, Pokemon GO, and much more not like those of the anime. The battles are like playing Japanese chess.
Each figure is a piece that moves to difference spots connected by lines. The goal is to reach the middle spot on the edge of the opposing side. Once a figure reaches that spot, the game will end.
There are two spawning points for each side located at the corners of the game. They can be blocked when there are figures standing on it.
Figures moves according to their MP. The more MP, the more spots it can move on the battlefield. Movement can be blocked by another figure whether it is an enemy or not. Some figures have special abilities that makes them pass though other figures. These abilities like Soar (legendary birds) or Infiltrator (ghosts) gives a huge advantage in gaming strategy.
Forget those Pokemon elements because they don’t matter at all in this game. Defeating another pokemon figure depends on luck. The attack of each pokemon will be decided by the spinning wheel. There are five types of attacks in the wheel separated according to colors white, blue, red, purple, and gold.
White attacks are normal attacks but no match for blue and purple attacks. Blue attacks are defensive moves like dodging or blocking any attack. Red attacks are miss; you will lose the turn unless the opponent gets red or blue. Purple attacks are special moves that modifies the status of the figures; they have no damage but they can defeat white attacks and miss. However, purple attacks are weak against gold attacks. If gold and white attack clashes, the attack with a greater figure wins.
You can also eliminate an enemy pokemon by sorrounding them on the field. No battle is needed.
Battles will be discussed further on the next part.
