Pokemon GO was already available for several months now, but it is just now that the game is available in South Korea. Who would have expect did much delay is technologically advanced country?
The main reason to the delay is the phobia behind the use of Google Maps. According to Reuters, Google Maps has been a security issue which is limited by the Korean government.
Developers Niantic and Nintendo joins hand in hand in managing the game which urges people to go outdoors in search for cute virtual monsters. The game now is downloaded over 500 million times.
However, there has been a observable decline of players which the opening of the game. The developers hope to address the problem by opening the game to South Korea which is one of the biggest gaming markets in Asia together with China and Japan.
South Korea relatively spends more cash on mobile games than any other country aside from Japan.
Gaming analyst Jack Kent is hopeful for Niantic’s move:
South Korea is one of the world’s most lucrative mobile games markets, so should be a big boost for the game.

One possible reason for the delay is the use of another language. Koreans has different characters. However, considering linguistic advantages now, that might be more of a problem.
