This is old news. ABS-CBN is biased for the Liberal Party a.k.a “Yellow Administration” and prejudiced against Duterte.
Mass media can be used as a tool for brainwashing and this is what ABS-CBN (Alto Broadcasting System – Chronicle Broadcasting Network) is doing. An irresponsible journalist can maliciously bend the truth by highlighting the bad things of the reality or misquoting the words of a particular personality he/she wants to topple down.
Even before the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of the Philippines became president, ABS-CBN was focused on firing black propaganda against him. Some notable issues are the “cursing the Pope” issue, the “hidden BPI bank account”, and all those skepticism of “debunking the safe Davao City myth”.
It should not come as surprise that ABS-CBN will attack Duterte’s reputation.
During a press conference in Davao International Airport after the horrible bombing incident, Duterte was asked by one journalist what will he do if leaders of powerful nations like Obama will reprimand him about “extra-judicial killings”. He was furious in responding, highlighting the sovereignity of the Philippines.
Here is an excerpt of the video:
However, the interview was interpreted differently by various media outlets. CNN Philippines chose the headline, “PH, U.S. meet mutually agreed to be moved to later date.”
Now, here comes the ever antagonistic ABS-CBN bending the headlines as “Obama cancels meeting with Duterte after insult.”
There is a lot of errors going on in the latter headlines. First, the reporter is wrong to say that the meeting is canceled. On the other news, it was a mutual agreement to postpone. Second, the journalist assumes Duterte’s statement as an “insult”. Now, that is serious word bending.
It is understandable that ABS-CBN wants to get attention. They will enjoy internet traffic my attack the popular president.
With the 91% approval rating of Duterte, it is obvious that Filipinos don’t trust the news from ABS-CBN. It should be assumed that the network has a streak of bias for the yellow cult and prejudice against the current administration.
Mass media will always be biased. If they are not, there will be no way they can ignite public opinion. Mass media is still business.
