The gaming industry may have their triumph but, like any other romantic relationships out there, “nothing is forever”.
Clash of Clans (COC) — the top mobile game of the previous years — now suffer a gradual decline of player since its December 2015 update. Since then, according to most players, the game has focused on making money out of the credit card holders on their gaming community. COC’s pain is now hastened with the advent of Pokémon Go.
Pokémon Go is the hottest mobile game out there. It is an augmented reality game managed by Niantic in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company which is available for iOS and Android users. Pokémon Go is a total game changer and redefines the meaning of mobile games. This is how a mobile game should be, an entertainment that demands players to go outdoors.
COC lacks most of these features. It is basically an indoor game that requires so much time waiting for a significant progress to happen on your town. What’s worse is the fact that anything that has been horded will soon be looted by attackers on your town. The game is becoming boring and frustrating in every update they make. Supercell’s old yellow crazy barbarian mascot can no longer prevent the daunting future of the game’s death.
There are many noticeable evidences to support COC’s demise. Just look at their social media pages and you will observe a remarkable decline of netizen interaction. Youtubers featuring COC, Clash Royale, and any other Supercell games have less subscribers now. It’s even when they resort to click baits using the name “Pokémon Go” to lure some viewers, like this video below.
COC’s shrinking popularity has never been obvious than before. This is terribly bad news for Supercell. Pokémon Go has done a tremendous effect on Clash of Clans’ gaming community. I wont be surprise that the game will be shutting down soon.
