Can’t get enough of the last Star Wars, The Force Awakens Movie? The cutest robot droid, BB8, can be made on the comforts of your homes. A young Filipino tech builder, Angelo Casimiro.
For those who does not know Angelo, he is the young Filipino inventor featured last 2014 by inventing electric generating shoes. Now, he does not end up the hype of the Geek fantasy world, Star Wars. He uploaded a step by step instruction of how to make the BB-8 robot droid using Household Materials.
He did all the work during Christmas break. With the help of his family — his father, mother, siblings and other relatives — he was able to finish his very own droid. The best thing about it is that, he can control it through his Android device.
His programming codes have two version. As he admitted in the video, the version 1.0 had some stability issues while running in faster speed. Version 2.0 has the following features:
- Magnetic Switch
- Accessible Charging Port
- Raspberry Pi
- With Voice Module/Sounds
- Neodymium Magnets
- Head falls less frequently
Using Arduino Bluetooth RC Car (Android app), Angelo was able to control his homemade droid. This thing is also rechargeable.
Many other Star Wars fan have shared how they made their own BB8 droids. However, in a 3rd World country like the Philippines, budget for the material is certainly an issue. This is the the only viewer-friendly instructional video that utilizes recycled materials.
Plus, Angelo perhaps is the youngest person to created the Star Wars spectacle. Very inspiring to young minds.
So cool right?
Build you own BB-8 too. May the force be with you.
