Since during the ancient times, machines that moves on their own is a fancy subject discussed in fiction. In modern society, it is present in our books, movies, and other works of art.
Most of these narratives are putting robots on the bad light. Normally the plot goes: robot created by humans in their being and likeness, then, robots betray their creators. Most of the times robots are made into enemies in our stories like zombies, spirits, radical terrorists, and other entities that are a threat to humanity.
A social experiment uses a robot called HitchBOT which want to travel across the US. However, the journey was a bitter tale. When HitchBOT ended in Philadelphia, it was smashed into pieces.
The thing is robots are programmed to be loyal to their human masters. However, some human beings just too cruel to reciprocate that loyalty.
Sooner or later robots will be a common sight on human society. They will be useful at work, at home, or on the streets. However, the way society will respond to the revolution of robots is not yet clear.
For sure, they can surely help. They will give us a feeling that we are not alone — making our lives better psychologically.
