Calling all environmentalists and techies alike. Economists too can join the bandwagon. Here is great news for everyone. We have now a solution to our air pollution. Believe it or not this idea is amazing!
Introducing, a tower that converts smog into jewellery. A Dutch artist, Daan Roosegaarde, currently is on the progress of developing a giant ioniser which sucks up smog and produce breathable air. It is like an “artificial tree” that converts carbon dioxide to oxygen. Along the process, the dirty air will be filtered out in the “green tower” and its residue will remain. These smog particles will be compressed and converted into jewellery.
The color of the particles is black, by the way. Which it contains carbon. Speaking of carbon, it’s purest form is a diamond. However, as what the video clip from BBC news have shown, it appears that the dark particles are laminated into a glass cube casing. It still looks fancy though. Initial plans so far is to reward these jeweleries to generous donors who have supported the project through crowdfunding.
This technology targets population centers around the world which have been suffering some choking respiratory problems. I mean to say, those cities with high density of smog. In the video, the featured place is Beijing, China. If this technology will be a success, this will also shed light on key metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Tokyo, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Bangkok, Paris, Karachi, Dakar and many more.
I personally support this technology. I am ready to embrace a clean air world where people enjoy healthy lifestyle away from any form of dirt or smoke from the streets. However, I don’t also dream this “cleansing tower” will be a janitor type of tech. I guess we will also stop the producers of pollutions from its roots.
