Today I received an email from Nokia informing me that they will be participating in this year’s Mobile World Congress. Like I need to be reminded though. Well anyway, it seems that Nokia is really taking this one seriously in comparison to their lackluster performance at MWC last year. I would not blame Nokia though since it was still in its early stages with Stephen Elop at the helm. This year, however, is different. Coming from a quite successful fourth quarter last year, Nokia would want to ride into this momentum come Mobile World Congress 2012 at Barcelona, Spain. There are already high expectations from tech world especially from the much rumored N8 successor, the Nokia 808. I don’t even know if that would be the name but whatever its name may be, one thing is for sure, there will be an N8 successor. Rumors has it that it’ll be called Nokia Pure View and video teaser that Nokia has released seems to point at that direction. Hit on the video below and tell me what you think about it.
Aside from the rumored phones, Nokia in a press release will be having a press conference on February 27, 2012, at 8:30 AM CET, which will detail “…significant industry news.” Jay at MyNokiaBlog feels that statements like this feels a ominous. With the events that happened last year, I don’t blame him. It’s still a toss up whether this would be good news (news we want or expect to hear…of course) or bad news (news that we never expected to hear eg. Nokia going to Android). However, one thing is for sure Nokia is definitely making bold moves to take back its throne.
