Nikon Announces COOLPIX P-Series Digital Cameras; P310/P510
Next in line to the Nikon COOLPIX is the P-Series with two new offering this year, the COOLPIX P510 and the COOLPIX P310. This two new additions is all about performance and as Nikon like to put it..
“The COOLPIX P series is a line of multi-function, high-performance compact digital cameras with full-scale photographic capabilities”
In a high paced world and people taking millions of pictures worldwide, Nikon has acknowledged the need for high performance yet compact digital camera that end consumers would really love. While the L series is about ease of use, the P Series can be thought as both performance and ease. Ease in a sense that enthusiasts can find little frustrations with the quality of shots they will be taking with this new additions.
Notable features of the P310 is it boasts of a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8 which according to Nikon’s research is the fastest among compact digital camera. Also the adoption of refractive-index lens became the key in producing a high performance digital camera in a compact body.
On the other hand, the notable feature of the P510 is its 42x optical zoom, which is the “highest zoom ratio in COOLPIX history”. The optical lens focal length begins at a wide angle of 24 mm and can be crank up to the super telephoto 1000 mm. Because of this the P150
… supports capture of a wide variety of subjects, from those that are too far away for effective capture with previous models to macro photography and wide-angle shots.
Both P310 and P510 have backside illumination CMOS sensor with 16.1 mp. According to Nikon this results in little noise despite using higher ISOs. Both cameras also have lens-shift vibration reduction/VR and can record full-HD.
