Instagram, iPhone App, Coming to Android; Trends in Twitter
What’s up with Instagram and Android? First, Instagram is one of iPhone’s most famous photo sharing app. This app allows you to take photos with several special effects filters to choose from. You can either make your photos look like a 70′s shot or choose a filter which will describe your current mood. But what makes Instagram special to its iPhone users is that it’s free and allows users to share their pictures in a whole different way. Artistry made in a fun and simple way. Secondly, Android holds a large majority of the market share and is still continuing to dominate other markets. Join this two together and you have another one of those mixtures of domination. (Maybe not. LOL).
Instagram’s 50 million users is a testament to its smashing success and it was no wonder why the announcement of its coming to Android became such a big deal among many Android users. “Instagram is Coming to Android” is currently trending at Twitter which is also a testament to how much this app is being anticipated by Android users.
During the LeWeb Conference, Chief Executive Kevin Systrom of Instagram said ”We have two people working on Android now, I’m excited to be able to see our numbers today nearly double.” However, there was no definite date for the release.
Instagram would hope to double the users it currently has in the Android platform, knowing that Android now holds the largest part of the smartphone market share. The number of users will be very important as Instagram is planning to become more profitable through advertising.
”I think the advertising experience is going to be extremely engaging. It’s much harder with text,” but Instagram offers photos, and brand names such as Audi, Kate Spade, and Burberry have joined Instagram.”
“They’re sharing pictures of products and the message of their brands. That shows we’re at the beginning of what will come with brands.”
“Obviously, we didn’t start a business to not make money. Our focus now is on growing the network. You really need to build up the network, or no advertisers care.”
Large market share Android now enjoys has been the contributory factor that has led to this decision. The more people using Instagram the more advertisers would more compelled to commit to Instagram.
So, Instagram is coming to Android. Expect to see more of those artistic photos in Facebook and you don’t even have to be a professional.
