It seems that it was just a while ago mobile handsets with 1 Ghz dual core processors hit the shelves and we thought it would take more than a year for quad-cores to be fully implemented in future handsets. Guess I was wrong as rumors has it that the upcoming HTC ZETA phone will be powered by a 2.5GHz APQ8064 quad-core Qualcomm S4 CPU accompanied with 1 Gig of RAM.
Not only is it fast but the mere mention of quad-core also brings PC grade possibilities for the HTC Zeta such as a (also rumored) 720p resolution on a 4.5” display and a 8 megapixel shooter capable of delivering smooth 1080p videos. A 32 Gig of internal memory will also be provided. Powering this hungry HTC Zeta is a large A 1,830 mAh battery. Hopefully, this would get future HTC Zeta power users through a day.
After reading comments from other blogs, many have felt that 1 Gig of Ram on the seems to be very insufficient in terms of future proofing HTC Zeta. Programmers and developers alike would definitely find ways to maximize the potential of this device and HTC might want to get some second thoughts on whether to up the Gig on the Zeta and make sure it does stay more competitive in the near future. This is also to ascertain that future updates will not disqualify the handset from receiving it.
HTC Zeta will evidently be running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system. HTC’s Sense 4.0 might also be showcased in Zeta.
Interestingly the picture of the HTC Zeta provided above shows capacitive buttons. Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich does not require buttons because these are already built-into the OS as seen on the screenshot below. Of course Zeta is still only a rumored device and the final works may far from the picture and specs provided above. So nothing is final as yet but it would sure be nice if HTC did release a better version of this rumor.
How about you? Will you upgrade to the HTC Zeta if it does push through?
