I understand that blogging is definitely a lucrative business venture as I keep stating on numerous posts and articles. I know that a lot of newbie’s get on the blogging scene because they’ve seen or heard that someone somewhere is making $50k a month from it and so respectively they want to do the same, I respect that.
I have nothing against successful bloggers that make that kind of income but as a newbie looking to start a blog of their own, I believe that these are the wrong types roll models to be looking up to in the first instance and here’s why.
It’s simple, if your aim is to try and earn $50,000 a month from blogging it will never happen! It will never happen because your passion will always be about the money and not about what you truly love blogging about.
Here’s what to do, stop everything that is going on in your head and start educating yourself about what really goes on in the blogging world. What are people really blogging about?
The best way to do this is to read other blogs, communicate with other more established bloggers that are blogging for the passion of their topic and not for the passion of their monthly income report. Join blogging communities, forums and groups.
As you begin to learn and realise that blogging involves much more than just making money, you’ll also learn to appreciate and focus more on what it is exactly that you should be aiming for from your blogging venture.
When I started blogging seriously just over a year and a half ago I was well aware of the ‘Make Money Online from Blogging’ by-line that the term ‘blogging’ carried. However I started my blog with one intention only and that was to create an engaging blog filled with quality and resourceful content.
It wasn’t until after a solid year had passed that I took the initiative to monetize my blog properly; and even now after almost two years I’m still only making a part-time income from blogging. It’s not life changing, but it’s a start.
So I ask you now, why are you really starting a blog? Is it because of the prospect of making huge amounts of money from it, or because you have something that you’re seriously passionate about blogging about.
